ALMOND MILK (RECIPE)

    The vegetable milks are becoming more and more represented in today’s diet, not only for those who eat raw or vegan food, but for all others who like to consume healthier alternative for animal milks. The vegetable milks are made from various nuts and grains: almonds, hazelnuts, Indian walnuts, hemp, coconut, oat, etc. The process is simple and almost the same for all of them.

    Ingredients needed for almond milk:

    • 100 grams of almonds (unroasted and unsalted)
    • Sweetener by choice (honey, maple syrup, agave syrup or 4-5 dates)
    • 1-1,5 liters of water

    Soak the almonds in water for minimum of 6 hours during the night in order to swell and soften and to get rid of their enzyme inhibitors which will make them easier to digest. Change the water several times. This water mustn’t be consumed.

    Then you should peel the almonds. Put the peeled almonds together with the sweetener in your blender and add 300 ml of water. Blend until you get homogenous composition. Then add the rest of the water and blend for several minutes. Now your milk is ready!

    You can refrigerate your almond milk in some glass jar or glass bottle for 3 days.
