The appearance of ingrown hairs is a problem that usually occurs after waxing or shaving use.

These pesky ingrown hairs grow sideways or into the skin and are especially common in areas where hair is thick like the armpits, beard, bikini area or legs.

Ingrown hairs are painful and unpleasant and can become infected. Usually a red bump is formed on the skin with a dark spot, may contain pus and appears as a pimple.

These hairs that grow inward, although not considered harmful, can cause swelling, inflammation and pain and can be uncomfortable.

There are some quick remedies to eliminate those pesky ingrown hairs that are detailed below:

  1. Sugar.

Sugar is a great natural exfoliator that helps remove the skin that blocks the ingrown hair.

How to use:

Mix one cup white sugar with half a cup of extra virgin olive oil. Optionally you can add 10 drops of tea tree oil or lavender essential oil.

Apply the mixture to the affected area and rub in a circular motion to exfoliate the skin area. Let stand for a few minutes and then rinse with warm water.

Repeat once or twice a week.

  1. Treatment for acne.

Usually ingrown hairs have the same symptoms as acne especially when infected and contain pus.

To relieve symptoms can use the same treatment for acne.

How to use:

Apply benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid on the affected several times daily along with application to the sugar-based exfoliant area.

Another effective treatment may be applying a paste of crushed aspirin and water and letting it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
